Scott Lewis Homes, Inc. in partnership with The Knell Group at Coldwell Banker - The Real Estate Group are venturing a new development on the Historic Moss Avenue. These town homes will be constructed in 2018 but made to fit right into the grandeur of yesteryear.

This spring we look forward to breaking ground on 824 W. Moss Avenue on the 9 town home project. Each unit averaging 1,600 square feet plus unfinished basement to include the following:

  • All brick & stone exterior plus private patios
  • Open floor plans with 10 and 9 foot ceilings, extra tall windows with transoms
  • Stainless steel kitchens featuring walk-in pantries and granite countertops
  • Master suite with walk-in tile shower, dual vanities and walk-in closet
  • Custom finishes
  • Upper level laundry

Our official kickoff to the project is February 15th. This is a great opportunity for you to meet the designers and builders, see plans and customize yours. We will do several upgrades to those who purchase their brownstone through the kickoff.

We hope to meet you then! Click here for the Facebook event page

Story behind the concept:

This project has been a long time coming, including lots of dreaming, designing, redesigning, questioning and proposing. It began with one central thought-lets create something that doesn’t exist.

As developers, builders and realtors we are constantly looking to improve upon and add to our city and one thing that we liked so much about this project is that it allows us to add to the grandeur that is inherently Moss Avenue.

We’ve always loved Moss Avenue-the cobblestone streets, the historic homes, the killer views and the amazing neighborhood community, so finding a vacant lot on the street just seemed like the perfect choice for this project. We stood on this lot one evening dreaming about the project, it was then that we realized that in standing there you could see all the way to East Peoria and beyond; just another reason we love this street!

As we began designing The Brownstones one of our biggest goals was to create something that would stand the test of time, as each of its surrounding neighbors have done so beautifully. We wanted to create something that would belong. For that reason, we chose a Brownstone or row house design common in bigger cities that was made popular between 1890-1930.

Our next step was building materials; brick and stone seemed like an obvious choice accented by tall black windows to let in plenty of natural light. We chose three different brick styles to create contrast but also a seamless design.

From there the designs have continued to take their ques from Moss Avenue. The juxtaposition that we settled on includes high ceilings, transom doors and statement staircases. The main floor design is a shotgun style floorplan which maximizes space and lets in tons of natural light. The upper levels feature two large bedroom suites with walk in closets and upper level laundry plus a full basement.

Overall, we are really excited with how this project has come together. We love the combination of mixing old and new and at the same time creating something that we believe doesn’t exists and therefore fills a void in our marketplace.

Our goal is that each buyer will take the vision that we have created and then work with our designer to make it their own. Each brownstone is designed to be customized to the buyer’s specific tastes. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
